Bag-dead 2006

The series of drawings Bag-dead has been inspired by the Second Lebanon War and Israel's bombing on this country in 2006, but the title also evokes the Second Iraq War.

The title refers to the "body bags" in which the bodies of fallen American soldiers were repatriated to the United States during that war, as well as to the name of Iraq's capital, Baghdad.

The arrangement of the drawings traces a wordless narrative mini-chronology that tands with all the victims of conflicts: the bombed populations, first of all, but also the soldiers trapped in ideologies.

The choice of frameless borderless drawings is intended to express the impact of war on cities, bodies, lives: everything is torn apart, smashed, leaving only debris and chaos. People in the drawings blend into the pulverised environment because war also pulverises their life and psyche.

Black liquid ink felt pen (2mm tip); white A3 drawing paper (180 g); cutting of the drawings with Photoshop into thumbnails for the montage of a narrative; printing of the montage on A4 paper.
